- Staff mindset during correction
- Importance of presentation
Now, lets say you have completed your exams successfully.Until this point, the task is yours. Then the faculties come into the picture. Teachers / Lecturers from Anna University Affiliated colleges participate in paper correction. Before the paper correction process begins, the paper correction staffs are handed over with a key that contains ONLY key points that are to be present in your paper to award respective marks. The staff MAY have knowledge about your paper or MAY NOT have any knowledge about the paper. For. ex. Sometimes,An English teacher might get a technical paper to correct. At that situation he/she will entirely depend upon the key that is provided to him/her as she doesn't know the technicality of the subject.
Faculties hardly get 3 or 4 minutes to correct a paper. They have to complete the bundle of papers that is given to them within the given time. The Staffs are also paid accordingly for correcting the answer scripts on time. So as the number of faculties who attended the paper valuation process increase, quicker the overall correction will be.
Grace Marks:
Grace Marks are pleasant to hear.'More' pleasant to hear them when the question paper is tough.Usually Grace marks are awarded when Anna University QPs have an out-of-syllabus question or a question with mistakes. They are not awarded simply. There are cases where Grace marks have been awarded for up to 55 - 60 marks.
Generally Anna University calculates the pass percentage for a particular subject. If the pass percentage is too low, they add some marks (boost up marks) common to all to that subject paper. They will again check the pass percentage and ensure whether it is a decent % i.e Let's say a subject had only 40 % pass percentage and then achieves 70 % pass percent by adding 10 marks for all those who wrote that paper. Such situations are one of the lucky situations that you can get it with a tough question paper.
Staff Mindset During correction :
Every correction Staff have their own style of paper valuation. In an Overall level, the staff first see the two marks section. If you have done this well, they will confidently put marks for your 16m PART B Question .If you have left this PART A section, then you are in a possibility of receiving less marks than expected for your question. One of the myth is that 'If the staff has a good mood,my paper will surely get pass mark easily'. However this does not hold true in the new evaluation method. Anna University has tightened its correction scheme to improve its university ranking levels.
Importance of Presentation:
Let me give you a real example and then you will understand the importance of presentation :

Importance of Presentation:
Let me give you a real example and then you will understand the importance of presentation :
A College student didn't write his Digital Principles And Systems Design (DPSD) paper well.He attended only four PART A Questions.Out of the four, only 2 were exact answers and the rest 2 were some answers related to the question.Coming to the Part B section, he attended all but only 2 were correct. In rest three,he made a mistake in Tabular column and in one sixteen mark,he just drew the K-map,filled it and its just worth 4 marks. But his paper got C grade!Although, you may say that 'he passed because he attended it' , its not true. He had actually presented each and every 16 mark question (either right or wrong) neatly with detailed steps. He didn't completely write it wrong. He knew what steps will come and solved the sums accordingly with the mistakes. So he got marks for the right steps and the right 16m questions and for some theory and cleared it.Despite attending a very few 2 marks and a poor time management strategy he managed to clear it with the help of Presentation.
